Last night Waneta Trail Rotary got together at short notice to celebrate our past members Joan and David visiting our area.
A lovely evening was had by all. Roast lamb was provided by Madeleine at the Chez Harlamovs and everyone else contributed to the bone button soup. The conversation was lively and we covered the forbidden fruit of politics, sex and religion. The ins and outs of Jagmeet, Andrew and Justin were discussed; but for some reason Maxime, Yves-François and Elizabeth did not get a mention. Of course Boris and Donald were scrutinized too.
This naturally moved on to gender politics of politically correct pronouns and the various genders and sexualities that can be found in our various communities. Towards the end of the evening we moved on to religion but the secretary, who was taking notes, was fairly well lubricated and does not recall the outcome.
We wish Joan and David all the best on their immediate nomadic travels and hope they end up back in the Kootenays. But wherever they settle we wish them a happy Rotary Club … even ours in its evolving electronic form.
