Thought of the day

Minutes 05 June 2020

Climate is what we expect, weather is what we get.
Mark Twain

When you realize the value of all life, you dwell less on what is past and concentrate more on the preservation of the future.
Dian Fossey

The meeting was held online via Zoom with President Graham presiding, 6 members online.

Toast to Queen and Canada

  • Business:
  • The social last Friday was very successful and we were happy to see past members Joan and David Cooke.
  • The bank accounts have now been combined into one. the treasurer will keep track on paper of the two accounts.
  • Carol proposed that we look into the B street park project again. She had been in contact with Kinseed    http://www.kinseed.ca/. they are a group that encourages natural plants. We could make the area into a pollinator park that needs very little maintenance. Soil testing is needed. Kinseed will look at the sight and create a proposal. We would partner with the city of Trail and Communities in bloom.
  • Discussion on Masks for All project. Can we proceed and how? We need the support of community leaders in Trail and Beaver Valley. Viktor will contact Robert Cacchioni a Trail councillor. Masks for all Rossland is championed by mayor Kathy Moore. She is reaching out to other Mayors to get them interested in other communities. Masks are costing $2-3 each. More people are wearing them and many businesses now require them. We are anticipating more demand for masks especially from marginalized groups. If masks were mandated there would be a higher demand. As a small club we do not have the capacity to do such a big project alone. Trail Rotary is not interested in being part of it.
  • Next week we will have a discussion on membership and becoming a full Eclub.
  • Happy and sad bucks (not) collected. Meeting adjourned at 8.05am
