The meeting was held on zoom with 5 members present
Music, Amazing Grace and We’ll meet again.
- Business:
- discussion on privacy issues.
- there is a virtual conference on RYLA put on by the zone. Saturday Dec 5th from 9am to noon.
- there is a foundation course put on by the District on Tuesday Dec 1st 7.30pm register on the district website.
- Program
- Pat Sims our new member introduced himself to the club. He was born at the old Trail hospital in 1957 and lived in Montrose until his teens when he left to live in Vernon. He married and went to college. He had a summer job with trees and weed removal. With his brother he returned to Trail in 1980 to see if there was work and within hours of his return was doing weed removal. His business became Columbia Tree services which has been steady ever since. the work keeps him fit and he has 4 employees. He also has a workshop for repairs and makes topsoil from woodchips.
- He has been married 46 years, has 5 kids and 9 grandchildren. He loves skiing and kayaking, hiking and mountain biking and has a motor cycle. Loves being involved in the community and knows everyone. He wants to be involved in rotary again to give back to the community and the world.
- After Pat’s talk we looked at Viktors checklist of action items.
- We need a new facebook page – Maddy will work on this with Joan.
- Do we want to change our meeting time? this is something for consideration at another time.
- Golden community bingo – next week we will go over the video Greg sent us about next steps.
- Proposal to sponsor a family for a christmas hamper through the salvation army program. Maddy will look into it.
- Viktor proposed planting trees as a way to use the express grant money available. He suggested at Fort Shepherd. W would need permission. Viktor will contact the group who manages Fort Shepherd. Pat will talk to Heather Hamer about a similar project the scouts did.
- Happy and sad bucks (not) collected. Meeting adjourned at 8.15am
