Thought of the day

Minutes 16 July 2021

A woman is like a tea bag – you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water
Eleanor Roosevelt

My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was sixty. She’s ninety-seven now, and we don’t know where the hell she is.

  • Business:
  • A discussion on the possibility of border opening up for those double vaccinated. Grand Forks seems to be the hot spot for covid in BC currently.
  • A donation was suggested to Lytton to help people displaced by the fire. We can find a club to contact there or perhaps the Red Cross. Maddy will talk to rob Hawton who volunteers with them.
  • Politics – Angela Merkel is retiring as Chancellor of Germany. She has survived four US presidents.
  • Smoke that we are experiencing is coming from fires in Washington State. Juris shared a website showing the map. (see sidebar)
  • From email replies and suggested at the meeting we are cancelling the next two meetings, July 23rd and 30th. Next meeting will be on August 6th.
  • We will plan a social for some time in August.
  • Next year’s district Conference will be in Colville, May 12 to 15th 2022.
  • Happy and sad bucks (not) collected. Meeting adjourned at 8.15am
