• Bingo – Maddy had a photo op with the Trail and Rossland clubs for our joint hospital donation,
• Susie’s sewing project. Juris got a reply from Susie. He posted it on our webpage and Joan posted the picture on our facebook page
• Options for our social on Dec 4th – Kootenay Kebab, Zee Crepes can do sit down meals with a couple of days notice.
• Discussion on membership – we need to invite guests.
• Juris has invited Nancy Gurr ED of TACL to come talk to us.
• Flooding in the lower mainland. Is there something we can do? Not much at the moment. Maddy reached out to Merrit and Princeton Rotary clubs. Right now nothing can get to them. Bingo can do nothing unless a group is already approved for gaming money
• Program – Juris on the Four way test.
• This is a philosophical approach looking at the wording. He understands and agrees with its intent.
• Is it the truth? – “People will generally accept facts as truth only if those facts agree with what they already believe.” Andy Rooney. Is there a better word? Truth is cultural.
• Is it fair to all concerned? “Fairness does not mean every one gets the same. fairness means everyone gets what they need” Rick Riordan.
• Will it be beneficial to all concerned? “Better never means better for everyone. It always means worse for some.” Margaret Attwood.
• Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Good, better, best. what do we mean?
• Discussion: the 4 way test gives us a framework to examine our actions. It is aspirational.
• It can also be weaponized to prevent change. Think of when women were allowed in Rotary.
• Graham will do Rotary moment next week.
