  • All are welcome to the camp. It helps kids grow. Christian, but this is not emphasized. Land is owned by United church, and the camp is run by a volunteer non-denominational non profit group. They Hire one or two cooks and a groundman. Fees are less than cost of running camp to keep it reasonably priced. Donations are encouraged so that cost is not a barrier to youth wishing to attend. They rely on donations. They run different themed camps eg; lgbtq for youth. In the process of rebuilding the washroom destroyed by trees falling on it. They are putting solar panels on it. The workman donated his time. Local businesses support the camp. About 120 children come each year. A women’s group group uses the camp once a year, the Trail United church uses it too. Schools can use it for the day.
  • They need a new boat. The current one is 40 years old and leaks. There is a shortage of boats everywhere. They have done extensive research and picked a landing craft that allows wheelchairs to roll on and is much easier to bring in supplies. It will have removable seats and a canopy. The company making it is in Burlington and it won’t be built until summer of 2023.
  • Fundraising through Rotary among other avenues. Rotary clubs in Nelson, Castlegar and Trail have supported the camp for many years. The board have applied for money through CBT, and the LeRoi foundation. They are also applying to BC govt for accessible funding. Pat suggested BC Hydro and Fortis.
