The meeting was held on zoom at 7.15am with 5 members present

  • Business
  • We met in person last week for a social at Kootenay Kebab. Viktor Cytra joined us. He is now a member of a South African club. We agreed to repeat in person meetings on the first Friday of each month.
  • Tree planting at fort shepherd. They want to do it in September, rather than in the spring so we can’t use the express grant for it.
  • Webster winter wonderland happened and they did not inform us. We could not come up with a project to use the express grant money so have to return it.
  • Food drive at liberty foods in Fruitvale on April 9th. Maddy created an invite on Facebook. Please share it. Discussion on signage needed. Maddy will advertise in the Fruitvale newsletter due out in April. Add in a Shelterbox fundraiser. maddy will contact Fiona.
  • Bingo. Three of us (Juris, Maddy and Graham) helped out on March 11th. All went well. Our next session to help in person is April 29th. There will be no bingo on April 15th.
  • Chair Project -Joan will send a list of local Charities that we could support. If we do an international group then we are limited to auction or outright sales. If we put on a community event and had a live auction, we can do international. We need one charity to build our story around. local charities we could do a raffle. It was suggested we donate chairs to the charity instead of raising money ourselves as one less step for us. This was decided against. We want to keep it to one charity and advertise ahead of time.
  • How do we attract volunteers to help us. word of mouth, social media, High schools. Friends of Rotary. Take pictures of the logs and at each stage and post on Facebook. Have a history – from logs to chairs. a photo of everyone who helped to make the chairs at the end.
  • Pat will get the person in charge of KAST to come and talk to us when he asks them to cut our wood.
  • Pat wants to have a vision for the club and to know what we all want out of Rotary.
  • Rossland Rotary fundraiser for Shelterbox was very successful and they are willing to share their promotional materials.
  • Road clean April 2nd. Meet at Tim’s at 7.45am for breakfast. Friday 1st meeting moved to Saturday 2nd.
  • Maddy will give a presentation on Diversity Equity and Inclusion from the DEI task force on 25th.
  • Happy and sad bucks (not) collected. Meeting adjourned at 8.15am
