The meeting was held on zoom at 7.15am with 5 members present

  • Business
  • A lot has happened since the last meeting on 29th July.
  • Joint fundraiser between the three clubs suggested. Selling roses for thanksgiving. Pat will check out sourcing roses today. If he can get a decent price we will do it at thanksgiving.
  • Thanksgiving food drive a possibility at Liberty just us or all three clubs on same day.
  • Joint meeting with Trail and Rossland with the District Governor Linda Bauer was successful. An all pay auction was held to raise money for Youth exchange and nearly $500 was raised with a huckleberry pie and cheesecake.
  • August 18th we had a progressive dinner with Linda and Jim Bauer that was enjoyable .
  • Wood for chairs is still waiting milling.
  • Tree planting: We have organized with The Land Conservancy to do more tree planting at Fort Shepherd on Sept 17th. They are eligible for bingo money and we can use the express grant of $400 (USD) again. Juris will confirm the arrangements.
  • Our next in person session for Bingo will be September 9th instead of 2nd.
  • Maddy was part of a photo op with the hospital foundation for the bingo money we gave for bassinets. Still to arrange one for TACL.
  • The papers are awaiting signing to get Pat added as a signatory on our bank account.
  • Juris our treasurer will give us a financial update once he gets all the figures from Carol.
  • Monse suggested that we sponsor a kid’s sports team if we have enough money. She will look into the cost. Maybe start with water bottles the first year and build on it. This will get our name in the community and give us some visibility.
  • Possible speakers for the future- Sheila Issel from BV Nursery School, Scott Daniels, Mary Martin. Pat will talk to Sheila and organize her for September 23rd. Betty Boatang wants to talk to us about projects in Ghana. Suggested date Sept 16th.
  • Juris needs to update the website. We need a President’s message from Pat and the time updated.
  • Next week September 2nd we will have an in person meeting place to be confirmed, at 8am. (9th is a regular meeting).
  • Fiona Martin our new Assistant governor will visit for one of our meetings
  • happy and sad bucks (not) collected. Meeting adjourned at 8.15am
