Eventually he got hired by Teck Cominco and retired after 25 years of Service.
- He got involved in People First at the Provincial level and eventually at the National level where he is still involved. One of the features of People First is the use of individuals who are not disabled who are known as advisors. They are there to guide but not take over the group. They can help organize and advise the group, they are not there run the group but help with activities and then step back and allow the group to care on.
- He believes that everyone deserves a chance to work if they do wish, he got involved in an organization based in Nelson that runs a cleaning company called Inland to Island Social Enterprises, that gives those individuals who might not be looked at by conventional employers, a chance to work. This company has cleaning contracts in Nelson , Castlegar and Trail.
