Ukraine

The meeting was held on zoom at 7.15am with 7 members present.

  • Business
  • Pat gave a report on the Area 4 President’s meeting. It was good to hear what all the other clubs are doing.
  • March 26th Christina lake is having a Perogie night to raise funds for Ukraine.
  • Three members from Colville Rotary will attend our meeting on April 14th to talk about their project in Tanzania.
  • Maddy talked to Geoff at Trail YAN about their cooking program. Anyone is welcome to go in and introduce themselves to him. They open 3.30 to 7.30pmTuesday to Thursday. We will likely cook every two weeks starting Wednesday March 29th.
  • We can give gaming money to the program through TACL. Motion Pat, seconded Gord that we donate $6000 of gaming money to TACL. Passed
  • Bill Wenman will attend next week March 24th to talk about renovations to be done at Haines park in Fruitvale.
  • April 29th Spring assembly in Spokane. Pat will drive a few of us down.
  • There is a memorial at the district conference. Maddy will send in information about John Lake.
  • Wednesday, April 5th at 11.30 tour of Selkirk Technology Access Centre (STAC) in Glenmerry (formerly known as MIDAS) together with the Trail club. Jan Morton will be in touch with details.
  • Is there a project we can do like collecting blankets for homeless people? Juris will talk to TACL about this possibility.
  • Nelson International dinner Friday, March 31st. $65 per head.
  • RYLA – Geoff at Trail YAN will take some brochures and applications. Joan will collect applications, by May 10th. Can be sent to her mailing address.
  • Betty and Dan Boatang are in Ghana. Joan and David will join them in April. Joan has a list from them of medical goods needed. Joan talked to No Frills pharmacy, not very receptive. she will try again. Joan priced out items at 840$. (glucose test strips and blood pressure monitors). Maddy will talk to Fruitvale pharmacy, Jay, and Carolyn.
  • Motion Joan/Graham that we spend $840 for medical supplies to go to the Millenium Christian Women’s network in Ghana.
  • Invite Betty and Dan to come to our zoom meeting on March 31st.
  • Mark Kostash of Grand Forks Rotary is interested in helping with the Adirondack
  • Are we willing to work with them on their hospital project? We need more information. When Joan returns she will fill us in with more details.
  • Easter Food-drive Saturday 1st April at Liberty foods from 9 to 4pm. We can each do hour-and-a-half shifts with two people. More people are needed at 4 when we pack up. Maddy will make up a schedule.
  • April 7th is Good Friday – no meeting that day. (It should be in-person)
  • First Road clean-up Saturday 15th April. Juris will let other clubs know.
  • Happy and sad bucks (not) collected. The meeting adjourned at 8.15am
