The meeting was held on Zoom at 7.15am with 6 members present

  • Business
  • A Foodsafe course is available at Selkirk College in Trail on October 21st. $125 per person. See if we can sponsor a student from Trail YAN. We need to book. 5 of us want to do it.
  • We have $3500 of Bingo money to use before the end of October. Suggested we try Communities in Bloom. Fort Shepherd, Food bank. Seniors games.
  • Juris will investigate us doing more tree planting in the fall at Fort Shepherd.
  • Maddy will ask Theresa from the Foodbank to talk to us about the farmers market program.
  • Invite Lana from communities in bloom to talk to us if they are eligible for gaming funds.
  • Invite carol from Senior’s games
  • We are invited to the opening of the opening for the Garden of Gratitude at Columbia View lodge on Thursday Sep 7th 10.30. 4 of us will go. We gave them $2000 towards the project.
  • We may be able to get an express grant again from the district. We need ideas to apply and use this. Pat will check the amount.
  • Juris will see if he can get an update on Susie’s Sewing project. see how they weathered covid. Our commitment finished.
  • We want another international project. Maybe adding solar panels to provide power for a school – adding to an existing project with another club.
  • School Aid. We may be able to use the express grant to give them money and help assemble the packages if we can get it in time for school to start.
  • We have less smoke today. Juris showed a website firesmoke .ca that showed the fires and where the smoke is coming from.
  • The Social was a success last weekend with 16 people attending. It was fun. Several thank you’s received. It was good to see Lynn and Ed came from Colville
  • August 25th regular Zoom meeting.
  • Happy and sad bucks (not) collected. The meeting adjourned at 7.45am
