• Business
• We made Beaver tails on Saturday May 25th as part of Beaver Valley Maydays. The car show was not very busy due to the possibility of rain (which held off) and not a lot of people around so very slow. We still raised $354. Pat thanked everyone who helped us.
• Changeover meeting, a joint meeting with Trail and Rossland is on Wednesday July 3 at 6 p.m. at the Patterson’s in Tadanac. They will purchase food (coldcuts, cheeses, fruit tray, etc.) and put out a bucket for Rotarians to contribute (around $15-$20 each). Whatever is leftover we will put into the Polio fund. We need to let Trail know by June 25 numbers. Pat, Maddy and Juris will attend.
• RYLA deadline for applications is May 31st today. Not heard from Trail YAN. Trail Rotary will share cost.
• We need to inspire younger people to join Rotary.
• We need a financial update and a budget. What can we do for a fundraiser to enable us to give money away?
• May 24th social and games night was held although the drones did not happen until much later than advertised.
• Program Pat introduced Trent Coombs
• Teacher in area. Son of Renice Townsend. Grew up here and played a lot of sports. Especially rugby. Harder for kids to do it today due to funding. It costs $1000 to take kids away to play. They are scared off by the cost as they have to travel to play, not much locally. Has logs for sale by donation to fund his team. People drop off wood. Pat will donate use of log splitter. Kids split and stack the wood. Annually it costs about $5000 to run program, mostly raised by parents. It is a mixed team all ages. There are opportunities for provincial competition but more expense.
• Suggestion to sponsor an event. Maybe make beaver tails to raise money for them. Pat will discuss opportunities with Trent.
• June 7th meeting in person at Bridgeview at 8.am.
• Happy and sad bucks (not) collected. The meeting adjourned at 8.15am.
