- Gave and excellent presentation on the three proposed “Creek Side Parks” along Beaver Creek. (South, Central and North)
- The main construction planned will be by the Memorial Hall. It will include an outdoor pavilion that can seat 200 people for functions like weddings and music events.
- Interestingly, in the past the creek had been redirected, so consequently there is a fair amount of regulatory requirements to do any work along side the creek.
- There are no expected capital costs expected to the residents of Fruitvale, but when finished there will be increased maintenance costs.
- The Central Creek Side park will help mitigate flooding.
- Area A will be providing support for the project.
- The project will be done in stages, some of the easier stuff is hoped to start in the spring of 2025
- The Council is looking for feedback on the project and a letter of “support”.
- We have the presentation available
On other topics - Mayors have to step down when elected to other governmental positions, but there are procedures/by-laws in place for councillors to act in the absence of the Mayor.
- Bill pointed out there are sufficient votes for a referendum regarding the loan to demolish the old middle school.
