  • Rotary Action Group for Peace (RAGFP) encourages clubs to become Peacebuilder clubs. Peace is what Rotary is about.
  • Peacebuilder clubs are Rotarians working for peaceful conflict resolution around the world and in their communities in keeping with Rotary values. The seven Rotary areas of focus promote peace. The Institute for Economics and Peace has identified 8 pillars of positive peace. These overlap and help us see how we are doing at achieving peace.
  • One purpose of becoming a peacebuilder club is to help build a more harmonious world with less divisiveness and polarization. Responsibilities include the education of Rotarians and others on peacebuilding opportunities, increasing public awareness, engaging in events that promote peace, and supporting Rotary Peace Centres.
  • Peacebuilder clubs need a committee of at least two members who have read Your piece of Peace – a Peacebuilding primer for Rotarians, joined the RAGfP, and completed the Rotary Peace Academy training. The application is simple and goes to the chair of the peace committee.
  • Nancy Milton and Maxine Ruzicka chair the district Peace committee, which meets monthly. They have a Utube channel, library, and speakers bureau.
  • Our District is a Global Peacebuilder district. Grand Forks club is holding a one day peace event on 17th April. There is a peace summit at the District Conference in Sandpoint on May 1st.
  • Peacebuilder clubs are encouraged to plant peace poles. They cost about US$400 each.
