Thought of the day

Minutes 19 May 2023

If there are no stupid questions, then what kind of questions do stupid people ask? Do they get smart just in time to ask questions?

  • Program – Joan part 2 of her trip to Ghana
  • Joan showed a short video of attendees at a health fair near a shanty town at the Art Cantre in Accra, where Joan and David helped out. They set up chairs for clients to wait in. 240 people attended but they were expecting more like 500. Partners with the Millenium Christian Women’s Network Foundation were 3 pharmacists, 7 nurses, 7 local doctors, and 7 counselors. Prescriptions could be filled straight away. Doctors could not treat everyone but sent people to the local hospital as necessary. Some drug addicts came in. Lifestyle counseling was important for example for people with high blood pressure. Joan and David were limited in how they could help as they could not speak the language but were able to observe. Our club donated blood pressure monitors and temperature sensors and glucose test strips. The Foundation has to decide how often they will do health fairs. The government is not able to provide all health services. We could arrange for others to travel to Ghana and attend a health fair and help, observe, and help set up.
  • Upcoming meetings and events

  • July 4th joint changeover meeting hosted by Trail Club-more details to follow. Pat will confirm this.
  • 7th July in-person meeting.
  • Happy and sad bucks (not) collected. The meeting adjourned at 8.15am
