The meeting was held on googlemeet at 7.15 am with 6 members present.

  • Program: Why mass unemployment is the solution not the problem. A Utube video from Andy Q.
  • AI is already replacing a great many of the jobs currently performed by humans. It uses us to learn and benefits from our experience.
  • Discussion: AI will replace human labour. If we all get a basic income from those making a profit from AI, then what do we do with our time? We have to redefine ourselves.
  • AI mines data. Where does new data come from?
  • Our challenge is to find work that is more personalized and hands-on.
  • Some jobs will still be needed. Plumbing, health care, looking after the elderly and sick.
  • When are we going to start facing the reality of universal income?

  • RYLA: We need to get the word out? Maddy forwarded the forms to everyone and will pass the information on to Carol Currie, a past member who still works at Selkirk College. Erika will be our Rep on the interclub committee. Deadline to apply is May 15th. Age limit now 18 to 30.
  • On April 17th, we had a meeting with DG David Keyes. He gave an address about the benefits of Rotary and the fellowship he had received from his time in Rotary.
  • Next week, May 1st, in Person at 8am at Bridgeview.
  • May 15th at 7:15 AM PT, Maria Kliavkoff will give the “Healthy Conversation in Difficult Times” Presentation online.
