The meeting was held on googlemeet at 7.15 am with 5 members and guest Maria Kliavkoff present.

• Program: Joan introduced Maria Kliakoff. A speaker and author. She talked about healthy conversations in difficult times.
• What role do healthy conversations play?
• “Our vulnerability is our humanity and our humanity is where peace begins.”
• We are sometimes afraid to speak for fear of contradicting others. When we are willing to be vulnerable we can hear others and contribute to peace. “Peace happens one conversation at a time” Barry Rassin (past RI president)
• Need for conversations. The current climate causes stress in many ways, including fatigue and exhaustion. Issues become politicised, and we have impatience with dialogue. Silos are created.
• This leads to polarizing opinions at the individual and club level within Rotary. To break this down, we need to work to change the environment.
• HOT topic conversation (Honest, open, transparent)
• Group agreements Maria has created: Confidentiality, “I” speak, no judgment or unsolicited advice, be kind and curious, honour and respect each other, inclusiveness, trust the process, gratitude, anything else?
• Role of the facilitator. What if someone does not agree with agreements? Want to maintain the safety of the environment and ensure all voices are heard. Include all points of view. summarize conversation responsibly, remain impartial.
• The goal of any conversation is to move from “my point of view” to a Global pov. closed mind -I am my pov, open minded – I am not my pov.
